JESUS: The Reason for the Season

Jesus - The reason for the season

Have you ever received a wrapped gift and looked forward with so much excitement to find out what is inside the gift pack? What if after carefully unwrapping the gift pack, you discovered that it was empty? How would you feel? Disappointed? Sad? Or both? Every time we celebrate Christmas without shining the spotlight on Jesus Christ, it is just like unwrapping an empty gift pack. This is because the main reason for Christmas is our Lord Jesus Christ.

Over two thousand years ago, the greatest love story began. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. (John 3:16). He didn’t send His Son as a mighty warrior dressed for battle. Instead, He gave mankind a baby; a baby born in a manger. Jesus could have been born to royal parents but He chose to come in the lowliest way ever so that He can reach out to everyone with His unfailing love.

Christmas is a celebration of the love that God has for all men. It is a revelation of the love that God has for you. When the first man, Adam, sinned and fell short of God’s glory, all men fell with him. His choice to disobey God became the natural choice of all men and this continued until Jesus came. God, knowing that man could never meet the demands of His holiness, decided to come as a man to meet these demands Himself; and through Jesus Christ, all of God’s righteous demands were met. At the birth of Jesus, God unwrapped the greatest gift man could ever get: the gift of His love. He gave mankind the gift of a saviour because:

  1. All men have sinned and fallen short of His glory. Romans 3:23
  2. All men need a saviour to deliver them from the bondage of sin and death. Romans 6:23
  3. No man on earth can save himself. Psalm 89:48.

God went to great lengths to save and deliver mankind from the cruel bondage of sin and death. He became a man so that mankind could have unhindered fellowship with Him. He wants you to know His love and live in the light of His presence. Beloved, have you given your heart to Jesus? Have you received the greatest gift that God has ever given? If you haven’t, now is the time to do so. Living without Jesus is a journey in futility. It is empty, useless and dark because Jesus is the light of the world. Giving your life to Jesus involves three simple steps.

  1. Believe: Believe in your heart that you are a sinner and that you need a saviour, Jesus. Acts 8:37
  2. Confess: Confess with your mouth that you want Him to come and be your saviour and Lord. Tell Him you don’t want to live an empty life anymore and that you want Him to fill you with His holy presence. Romans 10:9
  3. Surrender: Hand over the wheels of your life to Him and ask Him to take over all that concerns you.

Don’t wait for the new year to begin before you hand your life over to Jesus. Just as the earth was without form, void and dark at the beginning of creation, every life is shapeless and hopeless without Jesus. (Genesis 1:1-2). Don’t continue in your confusion and chaos when Jesus has come to give you a better and more glorious life. Don’t persist in darkness when you can easily enjoy abundant light and life. Jesus is calling you today. You don’t have to keep journeying through life with empty gift packages when He can fill you inside out with the glorious light of His grace and peace. Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart.

As you make the decision to let Jesus in, kindly say this prayer:

Dear Jesus, I know that You are the only one that can give me joy and set me free from the bondage of sin. Today, I accept You into my heart and life, and I ask You to be my saviour and Lord. I surrender my will to Yours today. Help me to live for You alone now and always. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Amen.

Congratulations. You have just received the greatest gift of all times; the gift of salvation and eternal life. Thanks a lot TCN
Not everybody that know why we celebrate Christmas, it’s more than just enjoyment. This shed more light to why we celebrate Christmas and remind me tha Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas and he was sent to this world to die for our sin and he is the only one that can save us,no man can save himself. He is our light.
I am very grateful for this, almighty God will continue to grant you more wisdom, knowledge and understanding.God bless you for us.

It’s a pity that the reason for the season has been neglected today. We focus on the merry part…that was why Jesus ask us a question in luke18:8…he new what would have become of us before he came…he new most of us would have forgotten the main reason why he came to this world.
I pray he find us worthy of his kingdom whenever he shows to take us home in Jesus name (Amen).

Thanks for this piece TCN 😊👍
